resist Blockade of the Rhein/Main US Airbase on 29 March 2003

In defiance of the worldwide protests by millions of people and against the will of their own citizens the USA and the United Kingdom have begun their war of aggression against Iraq without any UN mandate and in contravention of international law. Following our large-scale and successful sit-in blockade of the Rhein/Main US Airbase at Frankfurt on 15 March 2003 with 2,000 people we want to repeat this on 29 March 2003 with even more people and block the Airbase for a minimum of 24 hours! This action gives us a platform to express our protest against this war at a central hub of the US supply transport into the Gulf region and to put a spanner in the airbase's works. We demand an immediate end to this war and a solution to this conflict using only peaceful measures. Secondly we call on the German government to ban the USA and the United Kingdom from using military bases and German airspace. The granting of these rights is in contravention of the Basic Law of Germany (Article 26), which forbids any support of a war of aggression.

Plan

6 pm - 10 pm large-scale preparation meeting with behaviour tips and forming of so-called trust groups. All existing action groups are requested to send delegates. Place: Festsaal (Main hall) of the ESG Frankfurt I, Lessingstr. 2, 60325 Frankfurt

How to get there

Saturday, 29 March 2003
11 am: Forming of trust groups, council of representatives
12 noon: Rally and demonstration march to the Airbase, Meeting point: S-Bahn station Zeppelinheim
1 pm: Start of the blockades. These will be ended either by the police or by decision of the council of representatives of all trust groups. We are planning to maintain the blockade for at least 24 hours and therefore also overnight.

Establishing trust groups
We want as many people as possible to organise themselves into so-called trust groups for the period of the action. This is to ensure that nobody is left on their own in the blockade and people can form a group with people they trust. A council, comprising representatives from all trust groups, will take decision on the continuation of the action.

Action training and preparation meeting
In advance of the blockade we are holding both action training and regional preparation meetings. Here or under the telephone number +49-(0)30 - 440 130 14 you can find out about existing regional training meetings and contact addresses for the regional organisation of the training meetings.
